Privacy Policy
Outpost: Language Learning · Last updated October 20, 2026
This policy describes how Outpost (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use our mobile app for iOS. Outpost helps you read local news in a language you are learning, with reading levels, vocabulary tools, and progress features.
Summary
- We collect account and learning data so the app can work and sync across devices.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
- You can delete your account from the app, which removes server-side account data we control.
Information we collect
Account information. If you create an account (for example with email or Sign in with Apple), we store identifiers and credentials managed by our authentication provider so you can sign in and sync.
Learning and app data. When you are signed in, we store data you generate in the app, such as reading level and language preferences, countries you follow, saved vocabulary, reading progress, and similar settings. This data is stored on our servers so it can sync when you use Outpost on another device.
Feedback you send. If you use “Report a problem” or similar feedback features, we store the message you write, the category you choose, your account identifier (if signed in), and basic diagnostic information (app version, build, device platform, and OS version) to help us investigate.
Subscription status (when enabled). If you purchase a subscription, Apple processes payment. We (and our subscription provider) receive information needed to unlock paid features, such as purchase status and product identifiers—not your full payment card number.
Push notifications (if you opt in). If you enable notifications, we may store a device push token linked to your account to deliver reminders you request.
Local data on your device. Some information (for example cached articles or offline preferences) may stay on your device until you remove the app or clear app data.
How we use information
- Provide and improve the app (articles, paraphrase, vocabulary, quizzes, sync).
- Authenticate you and maintain your account.
- Respond to feedback and fix problems.
- Manage subscriptions and access to paid features when offered.
- Comply with law and protect the service from abuse.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run Outpost. They process data on our behalf only to provide their services to us. Providers may include cloud hosting (for example Supabase), AI services for adapted article text and learning content, subscription management (for example RevenueCat) when purchases are enabled, and Apple (App Store, TestFlight, Sign in with Apple, and subscription billing).
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use third-party advertising networks in the app.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.
Your privacy choices
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you are in a region that grants additional privacy rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Retention
We keep account and learning data while your account is active. You may delete your account in the app (Account settings → Delete account), which triggers deletion of associated server-side data we control, subject to limited backups or legal retention requirements.
Children
Outpost is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
Contact
